TOP 9 NELSON ROAD RIDES
NORTH SHORE 10-140km
Head out over BOB (Big Orange Bridge) for a quick pedal or a longer ride along the rolling North shore of the West Arm of Kootenay Lake. The hills really start to come between Balfour and Kaslo. 20-1275m approx. climbing
Same departure as the North Shore ride but hang a right over the Harrop-Proctor cable ferry for some super quiet country roads on the South Shore of the West Arm. 340m approx. climbing
A less busy highway than the North shore but definitely a little more climbing. Great on a hot day. Ymir has a great little bakery for a nibble. 740m approx. climbing
BLEWETT RETURN 40km
Leaving west from Nelson, ride along a couple of beautiful country roads through Blewett out to the last bridge over the canal and back. Test yourself up and down on "49 Creek Hill". 520m approx. climbing
KRESTOVA LOLLIE POP 60km
Same departure as The Blewett ride with an extra added loop out in Krestova/Pass Creek. Ride the lollipop either way for either a mellow climb or more exciting descent, your pick.
BOMBI LOOP 130km
The famed route of the Gericks Team Time Trial. Leave Nelson riding backroads to Castlegar, over the Bombi pass to Salmo. Try to remember to pack enough punch for the false flat from Salmo to the Nelon Nordic Ski club before descending back to Nelson.
GLACIER LOOP 220km
Nelson, Balfour, Kaslo, New Denver, Silverton, Slocan, Winlaw, Crescent Valley, Nelson. You get to see them all on this one. Beautiful roads and mountain views will keep you riding between eateries all along the way.
SALMO CRESTON LOOP 240km
Nelson, Balfour, Pilot Bay, Grey Creek, Creston, BIG CLIMB, Salmo, Ymir, Nelson. Testyourself on Canda's highest 4 season highway, The Salmo Creston Pass.
KASLO-MEADOW CREEK-KASLO 80km
The most stunning out and back you will ever ride. Finish with the best pizza in Kaslo at Buddies. Approx 800m climbing
