WHY?

In case you haven't noticed, Nelson is built on the side of a mountain. Mountains are hard to ride up, even for the fittest percentage of the population. Wouldn't it be nice to get home fresh and with enough steam to play with the kids/grandkids, or tackle those chores before dinner?

Why not come on down to the shop and check out the Kootenay's most complete Electric Bike selection.

We have been selling Electric Bikes for over a decade, and there is no better time than now to see where the technology has lead us. The Electric Bikes we have in store are the result of us being discerning bike girls and guys. They all have nice bike parts that work, not cheesy parts thrown on a bike frame with a motor. Come see and feel the difference.

SOME BENEFITS OF MID DRIVE MOTORS:

ENVIRONMENT

Environmental benefits can be realized by substituting a e-bike for a car, or even a car trip. Studies vary but it's commonly stated that, over a given distance, e-bikes charged from the grid produce about 100 times less GHG than a car. And they're much cheaper to run.

OVERCOMING TERRAIN

If insurmountable hills stand between you and where you'd like to ride, a mid-drive motor can be the answer. Even steep grades seemingly melt away. With 4 modes of assist and the mechanical advantage of multiple gears on the back wheel, you can conquer the mountains or town's with as much, or as little effort as you choose to enjoy.

RIDE MORE OFTEN

Because you can dial in your effort to suit your mood without necessarily forfeiting speed, hopping on a bike becomes a great transportation option on more occasions.

PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS

The assist can reduce strain on your legs, back and arms making riding a bike a more pleasurable. If you have the will to venture out but not necessarily the brawn, the mid-drive e-bike will set you on your way.

eBike Care

How are batteries best charged?

eBike batteries with their lithium-ion cells can be charged for as short a period as you like regardless of their charge status. The batteries integrated management system, combined with a charger, protects the battery from overload when charging. Interrupting the charging process does the battery no harm. An important point to bear in mind is that eBike batteries should only be charged with the right charger because irreparable damage might otherwise result and warranty or guarantee claims might become invalid.

How often can a battery be recharged?

Even after a few hundred full charge cycles the battery will still retain a high capacity—60 to 70% of the original capacity. In an ADAC test carried out in autumn 2015 an eBike battery was fully discharged and recharged 1,515 times before it retained only 30% of its original capacity and was no longer of any real use. This means that the battery would have been sufficient for up to 35,400 miles (57,000 km) – or one-and-a-half times around the globe.

How can you influence the service life?

To get the longest service life out of a battery eBike riders need only to follow a few simple rules in respect of protection, transport and storage. They include storing the battery in a dry environment and protecting it from direct sunlight. The ideal charging level for a battery is between 30% and 60%. Ideally, the battery should be recharged at room temperature. When transporting an eBike it is important to remove the battery from the bike and store it safely in the car.

What precautions should be taken in winter?

A general rule is that cold weather reduces battery performance. That is why, in winter at below-zero temperatures, it is advisable to wait until just before you set out before attaching to your eBike a battery that has been charged and stored at room temperature. If you have not used the eBike for quite a while – in winter, for example – the battery should be stored in an environment that is dry and cool at about 30% to 60% of its charge capacity.
