All weekly rides start at Gerick’s Cycle and Ski, 702 Baker Street, Nelson, BC except for Bun Run and Gerick’s Toonie Road Race series.

Tuesday @ 5:30pm:
High intensity and variable formats (tempo, intervals, sprints, and hill repeats). SteepCity Squad training ride.
Last Tuesday of each month: Gerick’s Toonie Road Race Series – variable format (rotating between individual time-trial, team time-trial, hill climb).

Wednesday @ 5:30pm:
Soft pedal group rides (maximum speed of 28km/). SteepCity Squad training ride. Possibly multiple skill groups.

Friday @ 7am:
‘The Bun Run’ to Proctor Bakery – leaving from the Dairy Queen, 724 Nelson Ave.

Saturday @ 9am:
‘The Bun Run” Saturday edition to Proctor Bakery – leaving from the Dairy Queen, 724 Nelson Ave.

Sunday @ 10am:
Endurance ride, ‘talking pace’ intensity (note the start location may change through the season).  Possibly multiple groups. SteepCity Squad training ride.

The weather looked threatening but the rain stayed away for the entire race, in fact the temperature was perfect!  So to all of you who refrained from participating, remember it is always nice to ride the “bombi”!

Tag Team Toonie Ride Re-cap:

Sixteen Teams braved the hot sun on July 10, 2011 to race up Honey and Shasta, tag their team member who then zoomed down Eli Sym at the Nelson Cycling Club’s second annual Tag Team Toonie Event. Organizer, Travis Hauck was pleased with the turn out and hopes to get more teams and couples involved in the future. This year there were two female teams, one co-ed team and 13 male teams. Travis and Pat Williams defended their title and crossed the finish line with a margin of more than a minute.

A big thanks to Gericks Bikes & Skis for sponsoring the event and to Bruce & Colleen for not only offering their backyard for post event refreshments, but manning the BBQ as well.

The Tag Team Toonie Ride

The Vitals

When- Sunday, June 6 2010. Registration at 1pm@ the Mountain Station Parking Lot

Where – Mountain Station. Start/Finish at the Mountain Station Parking Lot.

Who – This ride is open to all Nelson Cycling Club members, with a donation of $2 to the winner. If you’re not a member, you can sign up at Gericks Cycle or Sacred Ride.

What- This is a race requiring a team of 2 riders. One will ride up, the other will ride down.

How-  The first rider takes off from the Mountain Station Parking Lot, riding up the Anderson Creek FSR and Shasta. The second rider will be waiting at the top of Shasta/Fat Chance. At the top, the climber tags his teammate who then heads down Fat Chance. After a short climb up the FSR to Expresso, the rider continues down Expresso and over to 9 Point Cowbell. Upon finishing Cowbell, it’s an all out sprint along the rail grade back to the parking lot.

Why- It’s gonna be a great time with lots of thrills, and probably some spills. Awesome prizes will be awarded to the fastest Mens, Ladies and Mixed Team Categories. Good Luck! All the proceeds will support the Nelson Cycling Club, who are always working hard to ensure that our trails are the best around!
